Presenting our Dossier and Getting Artyr's Room Ready

Well, our dossier arrived in Kiev last week and is going to be presented this week (Lord willing, it was presented today).  Some of the families' appointment date to appear before the SDA in Kiev fell 5-6 weeks after their dossier was presented.  If that would be true for us, our first trip to Ukraine would be the last week of December or the first week of January.  However, we received information last week that the SDA closes from January 1st-10th, so we are not sure of when we will travel.  There's really no way to predict . . . as we said in our last post, we just have to wait.  Although we don't know for sure when we will go, we know who does!   Our Heavenly Father will allow us to travel in His perfect timing.  We are told many times in the Bible to "wait on the Lord" - Psalm 27:14, in fact, tells us to do it twice in one verse, "Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD".  This "waiting" is not inactive, though . . . we are to, actively, trust Him and seek Him during this time.  He will strengthen our walk with Him, and will draw closer to us, while we draw close to Him (James 4:8).  Also, while we wait on hearing from Kiev, we have begun getting Artyr's room ready for him.  When he was here in August, he stayed in Grace's old bedroom, which was (as you can see from this picture of when it was first painted) very pink . . .

When Artyr was here, he was very gracious about having to sleep in Grace's old room, but we told him that we would repaint his room before he came back.  Well, the repainting has begun . . .

No, the color of his room is not going to be grey, that is just the primer . . . stay tuned for updates on what his room will look like!

Have a God day!

Our First Post

Well, now seems as good a time as any to post our first update on our adoption process.  Last Friday, we received our I-171H (our golden ticket to bring a child back to the United States).  On Monday, we got the letter apostilled (basically, notarized by the state) and sent it to Kiev, Ukraine.  As of today (Wednesday), the letter had departed France and should arrive in Kiev tonight or tomorrow.  Sending this letter was our last part in the process.  Now, we wait . . .  Lord willing, all of our paperwork (our dossier) will be presented next week to the State Department of Adoption (SDA) in Ukraine.  God has allowed this process to move so quickly up until this point.  We are not sure when we will travel to Ukraine, but we will find that out after the SDA receives our dossier.  They will then give us the date of when we need to be in Ukraine.  Three families that were a part of the hosting camp in August where we met Artyr have already received their dates for their SDA appointment.  Dusty and Tina Kuntsbeck, who are adopting Dima, have to be there on the 29th of November.  Russ (Sr.) and Lori Walk's SDA appointment is on the 30th of November.  Russ and Lori are adopting Eddick and Lena.  Eric and Cindy Noel, who are adopting Dema, will have their SDA appointment on the 8th of December.  It is so exciting that these families are so close to adopting their children.  For those of you that are reading this and have not been a part of the journey up until this point, we are attempting to post a video of the hosting camp in August (as soon as it uploads to YouTube), so that you can see the faces of all of these lovely children.  So, please check back to the blog frequently.  We are so blessed to have the opportunity to have Artyr as a part of our family, and we appreciate your prayers for the process.  Please pray for all of the families that are going through this process, as well!  Thank you!

Have a God day!
